Oat Bran Help Please!

Post  Jenn on Tue May 11, 2010 1:54 am

I have been reading the section about oat bran in my book, and am concerned that the type of oat bran available here in my town (in the US) is not the right kind. I have listed the nutritional information below about one I have found, but I'm still not sure it has been milled and sifted correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm also in the US, and we use Bob's Red Mill oat bran "hot cereal" - http://www.bobsredmill.com/oat-bran-cereal.html

Seems like similar nutritional info to yours? For our galette, it's 2-3 T oat bran and ~1T whole grain oat flour, also from Bob's Red Mill. It certainly seems to be tasty, filling, and helping with regularity, which as far as I know is the whole point of the galette.

So bottom line, if it's 100% oat bran and it's getting the job done...you should be fine.

The oat bran I've been using is Tesco's own brand.

100g contains:

Energy: 350 kcal
Protein: 14.8g
Carbohydrate: 49.7g
of which sugars: 2.1g
Fat: 9.7g
of which saturates: 1.6g
Fibre: 15.2g
Sodium: 0.1g
